How we DO IT
1
Farming
We start by harvesting the fruit and collecting the pineapple leaves. This is a key part of our project where we're building a collective of pineapple farmers. This approach is effective in creating new jobs and sources of income, significantly supporting the local community.
2
Scraping and extracting
As part of our process we collect the leaves, a valuable harvest waste. We then carefully scrape and extract the fibers, either manually or with machines. The step after is processing these fibers by boiling and drying, transforming them into a unique textile.
3
Processing
The fibres are then cleaned, boiled, combed and hanged to dry, ensuring they are fully ready to be spun and coloured.
Either by hand or machine, this step is crucial for maintaining a high quality end product.
4
Spinning
Spinning fiber into yarn involves a meticulous process, yielding a versatile material ideal for a range of weaving and knitting techniques. This transformation, from raw fiber to refined yarn, is crucial in crafting textiles of superior quality and functionality.
5
Weaving
Utilizing the spun yarn alongside various fibers, artisans craft an extensive array of top-tier textiles. This collaborative blend of materials results in products renowned for their exceptional quality and durability.
